Peter Fankhauser of Fraunhofer-IPSI, DILIGENT Steering Committee member, represented the DILIGENT project at the Grid@Asia project’s Opening Workshop in Beijing, China on 21-23 June.  Dr. Fankhauser was invited to present DILIGENT in the context of European grid applications.

The Grid@Asia program is designed to foster collaboration between the European Union and Asian countries in grid research and technologies, with a particular focus on China and South Korea. By strengthening cooperation between both communities, Grid@Asia is expected to provide Europe with a clear picture of the grid community in these two countries and to prepare the terrain for sustainable and long-term collaboration.

The Opening Workshop in Beijing was held at the Ru Xim Convention Center and focused on three main themes: grid middleware, grid applications and tools and programming environments.
