gLite 1.3 Released |
Fourth version of the gLite Middleware (gLite 1.3) released for General Availability.
The fourth version of the gLite Middleware (gLite 1.3) was released on 5 Aug 2005 for General Availability. This release represents a period of hard work for all of the people in the JRA1 and JRA3 activities of the EGEE project. gLite (pronounced "gee-lite") is the next generation middleware for grid computing. Born from the collaborative efforts of more than 80 people in 11 different academic and industrial research centres as part of the EGEE Project, gLite provides a cutting-edge, best-of-breed framework for building grid applications by tapping into the power of distributed computing and storage resources across the Internet. This release includes a new separate module to install the File Placement Service, File Placement Service clients added to UI and WNs modules, new data transfer agents including architecture refactoring to allow proper inter-VO scheduling and modifications and improvements in R-GMA Server and Client, and Computing Element modules.
