DILIGENT in IST Networking Session |
The exciting IST Event arrives with autumn and the annual project review. This year, the Event is being held in Helsinki 21-23 November. DILIGENT is happy to be present and participate in a Networking Session entitled Future Knowledge Infrastructures: we are not starting from scratch. Come, meet members of the DILIGENT team, and have your say!
Networking sessions are meeting places for communities that share common interests and have possibly never met before. Two years ago, DILIGENT participated in a networking session in The Hague under the topic "eInfrastructures: Empowering Research and Education with the most advanced ICT". This year, DILIGENT is looking forward to share the experience gained since project start with all who are interested. The Networking Session titled Future Knowledge Infrastructures: we are not starting from scratch brings together several projects to discuss the potential for exploiting outcomes as future building blocks of the Knowledge Infrastructures. Future Knowledge Infrastructures: we are not starting from scratch takes place on 21 November 2006 from 14.00-15.30 in Room 203b. Read on for the full session description: A knowledge infrastructure (KI) consists of several of types of resources (computers, applications, multimedia and multi-type content sources) and a software framework that allows scientists to share, use and produce new knowledge. The availability of large scale KIs will change the research practice in many domains opening the way to innovative synergies among scientists from different disciplines that were inconceivable in the past. Several discussions are on-going on how these infrastructures might be built from both the technical and organizational point of view. Many projects have accumulated experiences and developed technologies that are essential for the creation of such infrastructures. This networking session aims at bringing together a number of projects funded under different Framework Programme areas and explore how their outcomes might be profitably exploited as building blocks of the future Knowledge Infrastructures.
